The Legends League Cricket (LLC) match between the India Capitals and Gujarat Giants took an unexpected turn on Wednesday, plunging into controversy as former India cricketers Gautam Gambhir and S Sreesanth found themselves in a heated on-field altercation. The incident unfolded when Sreesanth, having conceded 20 runs in his initial two overs, engaged in a verbal spat with Gambhir during his third over.

Following the match, Sreesanth accused Gambhir of using derogatory language, alleging that the left-handed batsman had labeled him a 'fixer.' The confrontation escalated, requiring intervention from others to diffuse the tension.
Although Gambhir's specific words weren't entirely clear, the stump mic captured Sreesanth's complaint about the incident. In a video circulating on social media, Sreesanth can be heard expressing his disbelief, saying, "How can he say fixer?"
Expressing his frustration, Sreesanth took to social media to address the issue further. Live on his Instagram handle, he revealed, "He kept on calling me 'fixer fixer, you are a fixer, **** off you fixer on live television on centre wicket." He recounted how he responded sarcastically, questioning Gambhir's allegations, but the situation escalated further.
Sreesanth, who faced a life ban by the BCCI's disciplinary committee due to his alleged involvement in the IPL 2013 spot-fixing scandal, had his ban reduced to seven years in 2019 by the Supreme Court of India.
Refuting Gambhir's allegations, Sreesanth clarified, "From my side, I didn't use any bad word. Please guys support the real truth. He has been doing it with a lot of people. I have no idea why he started it, it was the end of the over."
The saga continued as both players exchanged remarks, with Gambhir, a BJP MP from East Delhi, responding indirectly on X with a picture in the Indian jersey, captioning it "Smile when the world is all about attention!"
In his defense, Sreesanth, in another Instagram live video post-match, referred to Gambhir as "Mr. fighter," alleging a lack of respect for senior players, including Virender Sehwag. He emphasized that the incident arose without any provocation from his end.
"I am not at all at fault here," Sreesanth maintained. "The words that he used and the things he said on a cricket field, live, is not acceptable."
Promising to reveal the specifics of Gambhir's statements, Sreesanth expressed his disappointment with the unnecessary scrutiny after his past battles and requested support in uncovering the truth behind the controversy.
