In the aftermath of Cyclone Michaung's havoc, the Tamil Nadu government has swiftly responded by earmarking Rs 1.90 crore for a comprehensive cleanup initiative targeting schools across four districts. Chennai, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, and Tiruvallur are set to benefit from this financial allocation, strategically designed to restore educational facilities that bore the brunt of heavy rainfall in the initial week of December.

Chennai, in particular, faced severe waterlogging and widespread disruption of essential services during the cyclonic weather. In a dedicated effort to address the aftermath, the state government has prioritized relief measures. The allocated funds are specifically directed towards schools situated in low-lying areas that endured waterlogging and related damages.

Highlighting the government's multifaceted approach, Health Minister Ma Subramanian emphasized the collaboration with private hospitals. More than 800 medical camps have been organized across the affected districts, with a focus on addressing health concerns arising from the calamity. Minister Subramanian noted, "We have partnered with seven private hospitals, conducting medical camps along the banks of the Adayar River at Saidapet. If necessary, we are prepared to extend these services to other areas in Chennai."

Simultaneously, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has launched a proactive cleanup drive to tackle stagnant water and clear debris, actively contributing to the ongoing restoration process in the affected areas.

In addition to these efforts, Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin announced on Sunday that relief measures, including financial aid amounting to Rs 6,000, will be swiftly distributed to individuals affected by the cyclone within the next week. This comprehensive approach underscores the government's commitment to facilitating a swift recovery and rebuilding process for the communities impacted by Cyclone Michaung.
